This programme focuses on key areas in business management which includes change management from the perspective of
information systems. The objective is to develop hybrid skills and to foster improved management of information systems and information technology resources. Career opportunities upon completion of this course include IT and database systems manager, hybrid manager, account manager and project manager.

The programme is designed with two routes that enable computing graduates and non-computing graduates to develop skills in both management subjects and information technology.

Upon completion of this MSc course, a student will be able to do the following:

  • Apply a range of techniques for data modelling and information management to support IS.
  • Propose a range of systematic approaches to develop and manage computing and IT systems.
  • Understand the need for effective management of change within an organisation.
  • Perform strategic planning for IS/IT to achieve business objectives.
  • Analyse a practical IS/IT problem and use appropriate channels to disseminate the findings.
  • Contribute to the financial management of an organisation.

Admission Requirements
An applicant is expected to possess at least one of the following:

  • A minimum of second class honours degree in any discipline
  • A relevant professional qualification of an equivalent level
  • A lower qualification plus appropriate and relevant experience at a professional level
  • Satisfactory independent evidence of employment in a position that would normally be occupied by an honours graduate, in a relevant area, which would lead to gaining benefit from the course
