MASTER OF SCIENCE (RESEARCH)

The Master of Science is a research degree for which candidates are required to submit a major thesis which comprises the results of the investigation carried out by the candidate. The thesis should demonstrate independence of thought and the candidate’s ability to carry out into the MSc degree. For admission into MSc, MSc preliminary candidates must complete such courses and pass such examinations as prescribed by their school with result equivalent to IIA (70% - 79%) or higher. The MSc preliminary is not a formal qualification; hence it will not lead to the award of a certificate.

Mode of study: Coursework and research

The Master of Science is a research degree for which candidates are required to submit a major thesis which comprises the results
of the investigation carried out by the candidate. The thesis should demonstrate independence of thought and the candidate’s ability to carry out research in the chosen area of science. The MSc is a 24 month full-time equivalent programme.

Duration of study: 2 years of full-time research
Course fees: RM30,000 per year

Entry requirements:

• A degree with honours I (first-class honours) or IIA (upper second-class honours) in the relevant research area.
• The completion of the MSc preliminary examination equivalent to I or IIA would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• To meet the university’s English language requirements.
