Chung Jing teams win in Curtin badminton league

Miri - 5 October 2015 – Chung Jing Sports Team A and Chung Jing Sports Team B emerged champion and first runner-up in the recent 2015 Curtin Badminton X’treme League held at the campus of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak).
Chung Jing Team A edged Chung Jing Team B for the top spot with a score of 15 to 3.
The two teams were among seven teams participating in the round-robin tournament. The other teams were Curtin Team, Team Unique, MBC (A), MBC (B) and LWS Training Centre.
Chung Jing Sports Team A won a RM1,200 cash prize of, 12 gold medals for each player on the team and a challenge trophy. The first runner up received RM 600 in cash and 12 silver medals for each player.
The tournament consisted of two men’s doubles games, two men’s singles games and a mixed double game.
According to organising chairperson Lee Xiao Yan, the Curtin Badminton Club will continue to hold more badminton tournaments and badminton-related events to inculcate a passion for the game amongst the university community as well as the general public in Miri.
“The 2015 Curtin Badminton X’treme League was a good opportunity for our players to show off their badminton skills and we hope to get more participation in our future tournaments,” added Lee.
The tournament was sponsored by Alpha Automotive and Service Centre, Alpha Sport and Mr Wee Han Chui.
