Quest International University (QIU) (DU021(A)) is a private and comprehensive research-led university established in the Malaysian state of Perak under the Higher Educational Institutions Act 555 on June 12 2008. It is owned by Global Integrated Training Associates Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Blair Education Services Sdn Bhd), and the State Government of Perak has equity participation along with the QI Group.

The Foundation in Science (FIS) programme is a three-semester programme tailored to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully enrol in the undergraduate courses of their choice. The FIS programme offers a broad range of core courses that give students more options before they decide on their undergraduate programme.

Core science courses such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology form the main thrust of this programme. Students have the option of selecting relevant subjects based on their career pathway. They are given early exposure to the courses relevant to their choice of degree programmes, helping them to develop and become familiar with scientific, theoretical, and practical skills. Students will also develop life skills through subjects like Critical Thinking, Interpersonal Communication and Frontier Studies which will make them more adaptable, confident, and team-oriented.

Assessment:

Students’ abilities are gauged through continuous assessments and final examinations. The continuous assessment component comprises of a combination of tests/quizzes, mid-term examinations, presentations, and projects/assignments that account for 60 to 100 marks, depending on the course. The balance of the marks are allocated for the final examination.

About MBBS course

The MBBS programme at QIU follows an Integrated Hybrid Problem-Based Learning Curriculum. The 5-year MBBS curriculum consists of two contiguous phases: Phase I (Years 1 & 2) and Phase II (Years 3 to 5). In Phase I, the emphasis is on basic sciences with early clinical exposure, while Phase II focuses on the clinical sciences integrated with the applied aspects of basic and laboratory sciences.

About Pharmacy course

The 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy Programme will train undergraduates in basic medical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences and patient-focused sciences as well as pharmacy practice areas. Skills required of a pharmacist will be acquired via lectures, tutorials, laboratory work, problem-based learning and clinical clerkship as well as attachments to practice areas such as community pharmacy, industry pharmacy and hospitals. In hospitals, the pharmacist’s role includes patient-based clinical services.

On successful completion of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) Programme, students need to undergo a one-year housemanship and pass a pharmacy law examination before being registered as a pharmacist and given an annual practising licence.

Students are also required to complete 1 year of compulsory service with the government. A registered pharmacist practices mainly in academia, research, hospitals, community pharmacies, the pharmaceutical industry, the military and the veterinary industry. A pharmacist can specialise in many areas such as Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Operations, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology.

Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM)

CGPA 3.0 with Grades BBB, ABC or AAC in 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.

Minimum Grade B in Chemistry

Malaysian applicants shall be required to attain minimum Grade C in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language at SPM or its equivalent.

Attain a minimum of Band 3 in the MUET upon graduation.

OR

Attain the following proficiency.

  1. Score of 550 in Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) OR
  2. Band 6.0 in International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) with a minimum Band 5.5 in each skills – Writing, Reading, Listening / Speaking (WRLS).

*If English Language proficiency stated in (1) and (2) is not met, Band 3 MUET is applicable.

A-Level

3B or 2A1C or 1A1B1C in Biology and Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics with Minimum B in Chemistry.

[Based on Universities and Colleges Admission Services (UCAS) for A Level with a score of A+=140, A=120, B=100 and C=80].

The requirement of 3B as proposed by Malaysian Pharmacy Board is equivalent to a score of 300 with Grade B in Chemistry

QIU Foundation Scholarship | QIU Pharmacy Scholarship

The requirements for the QIU Foundation Scholarship are as stated below:-

  • The scholarship is applicable to the tuition fees for the Foundation in Arts, Foundation in Science and Foundation in Business programmes.
  • Applicants are required to enrol in any of the degree programmes at QIU upon completion of the foundation programme.
  • Applicants must ensure the degree programme of choice is available at QIU.
  • All other costs/payment such as basic fees, hostel fees and transportation must be paid by the student.
  • Applicants are required to pay a sum of RM2,000 in deposit which shall be utilised as Basic Fees when the applicant registers for the degree programme. Any differences will be either be paid by the recipient or refunded to the recipient depending on the amount required for utilisation, if any.

The minimum requirements for the QIU Pharmacy Scholarship are as stated below:-

  • The merit scholarship is applicable to the tuition fees for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) only.
  • All other costs/payment such as basic fees, hostel fees and transportation must be paid by the student.
  • The student has to attend an interview to be eligible for the scholarship.
