Yayasan DayaDiri is pleased to announce that the Overseas University Scholarship 2018 is currently open for application submission.

The scholarship is for young, talented Malaysians to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a broad range of specialised fields at top institutions in the UK, US and Australia, as published by recognised global university rankings.

 

Primary Objective

The University Programme aims to increase access to world-class institutions and create well-rounded individuals by providing scholarships for candidates to pursue tertiary-level studies at leading universities in the US, UK, Australia, with a focus on niche or specialty subjects not typically funded by other sponsors, e.g. current scholars are studying music, women’s studies, aerospace engineering and sustainable development.

 

Value of Scholarship

Scholarships will cover partial costs of the total tuition fees and living expenses as estimated by the university. The award value for undergraduate studies is 50% of the total programme cost with a cap at RM120,000 per year and for postgraduate studies is 75% of the total programme cost with a cap at RM190,000 per year.

 

Preferred Institutions

The scholarship is open to all Bumiputera applicants who have received at least a conditional offer to any of the leading international universities as ranked by the Times Higher Education or other recognised global university rankings.

All applicants are expected to obtain their own college or university admissions.

 

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Malaysian Bumiputera
  • Must possess strong academic, extracurricular, and personal achievements
  • Have gained at least conditional admission to relevant institution
  • Fulfil other required personal traits and selection criteria
  • Maximum age of 23 for undergraduate scholarship and 35 for postgraduate scholarship

Only those who wish to pursue full-time studies will be considered. 

All scholars must maintain a minimum 2nd Class Honours or above, or CGPA of 3.0 or above, or at least a grade B in all examinations taken as part of the course.

 

Areas of Study Covered by the Scholarship

The scholarships are for applicants pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate subjects that are critical to the development of the nation including non-traditional/ niche-area specialisation in the fields of arts, design and creative; business, finance and economics; humanities and social sciences; applied sciences and technology, life/ natural/ physical sciences, etc. at any universities ranked in the top 20% for the study subject (e.g. acceptance to one of the universities positioned higher than 20 on a ranking of 100 institutions offering the study subject), as published by:

  • Times Higher Education; or
  • The Complete University Guide; or
  • US News and World Report; or
  • Financial Times; or
  • Other recognised global university rankings.

Complete the online application form and follow the application instructions. Please note that this form is only available online.

The submission deadline for the scholarship is by 30 April 2018.

YDD conducts its final selection in May and November each year (depending on university programme start). Shortlisted applicants will be notified within four weeks after the application closing date. For applicants seeking admission to later academic intake, it is encourage to first gain admission before applying for this scholarship.

All decisions on the selection of scholarship awards are final.
