Course Overview

The Diploma in Automotive Engineering is a specialised branch of Mechanical Engineering, covering the areas of automotive engines, transmission, suspension, braking systems, electrical and electronics, comfort and safety, automotive workshop technology and management. Graduates of this programme are expected to be involved in the automotive maintenance and manufacturing sectors. These sectors include design, testing, servicing and manufacturing of a wide range of vehicles such as private or public transportation, and light or heavy vehicles. The market for specialists in the field of automotive engineering in Malaysia has grown rapidly due to the expansion in the automotive sector led by Proton, Perodua, DRB Hicom and foreign automobile companies in Malaysia. Many automotive component companies are being established to support these manufacturing plants to serve as their supply chain. The high performance vehicle sector has also found its way in Malaysia with the involvement of Petronas and Proton Lotus that requires specialists in the automotive engineering sector.
