Course Overview

The Bachelor of Communication (BComm) is designed to produce graduates with comprehensive knowledge that informs, moves, creates and shapes the world of communication. Students will be exposed to a broad-based learning experience encompassing nearly all major aspects of communication such as journalism, advertising, broadcasting, corporate communication and public relations.

The programme will also develop learners’ ability to apply communication techniques critically and objectively in real life situations.

Entry Requirements

Normal Entry

i. Pass STPM or its equivalent, with minimum Grade C (GP 2.00) in 2 subjects and a credit in English at SPM level or its equivalent; or

ii. Pass STAM with minimum grade of Jayyid and a credit in English at SPM level or its equivalent; or

iii. Pass Diploma (MQF Level 4) or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in English at SPM level or its equivalent; or

iv. Pass Diploma (MQF Level 4) in Media and Communication or its equivalent; or

v. Pass Matriculation/Foundation/Asasi or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and a credit in English at SPM level or its equivalent; or

vi. Pass UEC with minimum Grade B in 5 subjects including English; or

vii. Other recognised equivalent qualifications.

Note:

The credit requirement in English at SPM level for candidates (i), (ii), (iii) and (v) can be exempted if the qualifications comprise of English and the achievement is equivalent to/above the credit requirement of the subject at SPM level. (Equality of the subjects is the responsibility of HEP and the HEP needs to have strong internal policies/procedures in assessing the equality).

APEL entry

• Malaysian; and

• Candidate must be 21 years old and above in the year of application being made; and

• Have previous working experience/learning relevant to the field applied; and

• Pass APEL Assessment for Bachelor Degree (conducted by OUM).

English competency requirement for international students: Score of TOEFL 500 or IELTS 5.0 or equivalent.
