The rapid growth of computing industry and information technology in the country requires a large number of computer engineering professionals at a rate of about 10% per year until 2010. To meet this need UMS offers this programme with a primary objective of providing broad base education in electronics, computer hardware and software. 

Students study technical skills in understanding, designing and applying electronic circuits covering main areas of microprocessors, computer peripherals, power electronics and use of computers for programme development. Employment prospects are good and graduates find employment in a wide spectrum of industry and organizations primarily concerned with modern development of computing, communications and electronics. Courses that have been offered are: Electrical and Electronics Technology, Electrical Circuits Analysis, Analogy Electronics, Probability & Random Process, Microprocessors, Control Systems Lab, Electromagnetic fields and Waves, and Electrical Machines & Drives. 

Specific requirements conditions :

A Diploma in Engineering / Science Diploma from institutions accredited by the Senate of Universiti Malaysia Sabah with a minimum CGPA of 3.00

And

A minimum of Honours (Grade C) at the SPM level in the following subjects:

Mathematics / Additional Mathematics

Physics

Or

Obtained at least Grade B (CGPA 2.67) at STPM level in the following subjects:

Mathematics / Further Mathematics T

Physics

Or

Obtained at least Grade B (2.67) at the Matriculation / Foundation level in the following subjects:

Mathematics

Physics / Engineering Physics

And

A minimum of Honours (Grade C) at the SPM level in the following subjects:

English or at least a Level 2 (Band 2) in Malaysian Bahasa Inggeris Test (MUET)

Computer science, expert support system or systems engineers, application developers, software developers, staff engineer / software engineer, computer engineer / networking, grid computing portfolio managers, security information management, electronic engineer, staff engineer - digital signal processing, ASIC design engineer staff , senior engineer / manager - digital circuit designers, engineers / senior engineers - digital IC design, senior staff engineer - embedded, tutor / lecturer computer engineering.
