Course Description

Plant Resource Science And Management offers undergraduate programme, Bachelor of Science with Honours (Plant Resource Science and Management) which obtained accreditation in 1993. This programme provides a comprehensive knowledge and skill in management needed for sustainable and conservation of plant resources in agriculture, forestry, landscape and biotechnology sectors to ensure sufficient human capital to address the need of the country or else where.

These sectors have been identified as an important economic generating revenue towards achieving the Malaysia’s vision of becoming a develop nation. With the current implementation and initiative of the National Economic Key Areas (NKEAs) in which agriculture and plantation sectors are identified as one of the 12 key areas, increase of job opportunity in the broad spectrum in these sectors are inevitable. These opportunities will be of great advantage for students opting to this programme to establish their carrier in the related field of plant science and plantation management.

Entry Requirements

The minimum requirements for entry into most undergraduate programmes are as follows:

Good pass in the Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM) with a credits in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia subject or a credits in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July Paper and a pass in Sejarah subject (for SPM 2013 and above) in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)

 

AND

 

A good pass in the Sijil Tinggi Peperiksaan Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of:

  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Pengajian Am; AND
  • Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects,

OR

A good pass in Sijil Matrikulasi KPM/Asasi Sains UM/ Asasi UiTM with a minimum

  • CGPA of 2.00

OR

A recognised Diploma in relevant fields

 

AND

 

Malaysian University English Test (MUET)

  • At least Band 1

 

Good pass in the Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM) with a credits in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia subject or a credits in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July Paper and a pass in Sejarah subject (for SPM 2013 and above) in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)

 

 

Notes:

  1. Entry requirements into professional courses such as Medicine and Engineering are generally much higher. In addition there are also specific requirements for entry into certain programmes. Further details can be obtained from the relevant faculties.
  2. For foreign students, the general requirement is a good pass in A level, Matriculation, Higher School Certificates or other equivalent pre-university examinations. Malaysian Government Policy states that admission into certain degree programmes are restricted to local students only.
