Course Overview

The Journalism programme develops professional media personnel, journalists in particular, who are at the forefront of professional and technical developments in their area of specialisation. 

Students develop a strong foundation in communication, research and analytical skills. Knowledge and in-depth understanding of mass communication theory is also emphasised. Through the programme, students acquire a mature understanding of cultural issues and public policies within the Malaysian environment and global context. Students will learn the fundamentals of advertising such as copywriting and media planning as well as undergo for practical training in the industry.

Entry Requirements

STPM 1. A minimum of Grade C in any 2 subjects 2. Credit in English at SPM level / equivalent 

STAM 1. A minimum grade of Jayyid 2. Credit in English at SPM level / equivalent 

A-Level 1. A minimum of Grade D in any 2 subjects 2. Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent 

UEC 1. Grade B in 5 subjects 2. Credit in English at SPM level / equivalent 

SAM 1. Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and Grade B in any 2 subjects 2. Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent 

CPU 1. An average of 70% in any 6 subjects 2. Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent

 

Foundation from UTAR Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning Diploma (Level 4, MQF) or its equivalent: 1. Minimum CGPA of 2.00 2. Credit in English at SPM level / equivalent. NOT applicable for qualifications conducted fully in English language BUT must have a pass in English at SPM level / equivalent

 

Diploma in Media and Communication (Level 4, MQF) or its equivalent: Minimum CGPA of 2.00
