The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Built Environment programme is designed to provide students with a formal qualification in built environment at the master’s level. Through the programme, professionals and graduates would be equipped with technical knowledge and skill required in the Built Environment sector.  The programme also serves as an opportunity and pathway to pursue the PhD in Built Environment and other relevant fields.

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Built Environment programme aims to provide opportunity to professionals and graduates to pursue higher knowledge through analysis, synthesis and research in the challenging Built Environment sector. This programme is recommended for those who expect to engage in a professional career in research, teaching or technical work of an advanced nature.

• A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, as accepted by the HEP’s Senate;

• A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent, not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a relevant field.

The MA TESOL programme prepares students for teaching both domestically and abroad in higher learning institutions and private schools. This programme aims to provide suitably qualified graduates who have little or no experience of English Language teaching with an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the field of TESOL at both the theoretical and practical levels. The programme stresses the practical applications of learning and effective teaching and addresses classroom interaction, lesson planning, lesson delivery and language teaching methodology. Learning is balanced in the domains of knowledge, skills, attitude and awareness in the context of language and a disciplined reflective practice is encouraged.

Students are required to complete all courses (42 credit hours).

This programme is designed to produce world-class, competent and knowledgeable graduates in the field of communication, who are sought after not only by local corporations but also multinational corporations (MNCs). The programme focuses on refinement of analytical skills and knowledge required for decision making in the areas of advertising, marketing and corporate communication. This programme will benefit those already with an involved career in the communications field, as well as those who possess a related degree and want to hone their abilities and gain further knowledge in the field.

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration prepares candidates to acquire knowledge and skills necessary to function at the highest academic and professional levels. Exposure in the areas of management will be in-depth, whereby graduates will focus on a specialised area and will work to further develop their conceptual and intellectual knowledge and methodological tools necessary to design and conduct independent research.

• A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.75
• A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment process
• A Bachelor's degree or its equivalent with CGPA less than 2.50, with a minimum of 5 years working experience in a relevant field may be accepted
• Candidates without a Computing Degree, prerequisite modules in computing must be offered to adequately prepare them for their advanced study
• International students must possess the following minimum English Language proficiency requirement before being allowed to register for Faculty courses as listed in the respective programme structures : TOEFL score of 550 or IELTS band 6.0.

The Master of Information Systems (MIS) is designed to cater to graduates from IT backgrounds and non IT backgrounds. Talented people with advanced knowledge about managing information systems are a scarce resource. It is the objective of the MIS program to fill this gap by providing the needed education. Students graduating from the MIS program should be prepared to provide leadership in the Information Systems field.

The Master in Information Technology is designed to cater graduates from IT background and non IT. It is designed for individuals who hone their ICT knowledge and skills and advance their corporate position in the rapidly changing ICT sector. It aims to equip IT and non IT professionals with competitive edge skills and knowledge which will ensure them to be effective in a business environment driven by technology.

The Master of Electronics Engineering (MEE) programme (By Research) aims at preparing engineering graduates with advanced technical knowledge and skills in finding practical and scientific solutions to meet the needs and changes of the current engineering problems. The programme will also provide a pathway for graduating students to undertake PhD research in one of the specialised areas of electronics engineering.

Being one of the most recognized universities in the field of civil engineering in Malaysia, IUKL offers a Master of Civil Engineering (by research) programme.  The Master in Civil Engineering is designed to provide students with a formal qualification in engineering at the master’s level. The candidate may choose any area of civil engineering offered i.e Construction, Structural, Geotechnical, Hydraulic & Water Resources and Highway & Pavement engineering. Safe water and sanitation are fundamental to human development. When people are deprived of these, they face diminished opportunities to realise their potential as human beings. The Millennium Development Goals, advocated by the United Nations, provide a benchmark for measuring progress by regarding human rights to safe water. That is why the goal of reducing the proportion of the world’s population who have no access to safe drinking water is of paramount importance. Achieving this target is critical to the attainment of other goals of development.

The objective of the programme is to educate professionals and scientist to contribute effectively to the development and management of water resources on both local and global scale.

Career opportunities exist for a wide range of organizations including water related companies, research organizations, academic institutions, energy agencies, local, state and federal governments, and local authorities.

The Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering (by research) offered at IUKL has a greater emphasis on research compared with the Master degree and is geared towards mastering Civil Engineering knowledge in preparation for a higher career development. This degree is recommended for those who expect to engage in a professional career in research, teaching or technical work of an advanced nature.
