(24 October 2010-Bandar Utama)–Sheffield Hallam University (SHU), UK held its graduation ceremony for KBU International College’s graduating class of 2010 at the Ruby Ballroom, One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya.

Officiated by the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, Professor Mike Smith, the ceremony recognised the dedication, perseverance and commitment of all the graduates in the field of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and in Computer & Network Engineering.
With caps flying high, 96 elated students were awarded their degrees in the presence of the platform party with the Chairman of KBU Board of Governors, Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Teo Soo Cheng, Chief Executive of KBU International College, Prof Dato’ (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang, KBU Principal, Dr See Hoon Peow and Lye Boon Han, Head of KBU School of Engineering & Computing. Representatives from SHU who joined at the Platform Party are, Professor Mike Smith, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University was also accompanied by Tim Mulroy, Director of International Collaborative Portfolio; who is also the Link Tutor for SHU-KBU academic collaboration along with Rita Hwang, Senior Partnership Support Officer, International Office

The roll call of honour included eight high-calibre students who were awarded the first class honours degrees in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Computer & Network Engineering at the ceremony.
The eight First Class Honours recipients were:
i. Chan Park Heon
ii. Cheah Yik Wai
iii. Chong Chin Jou
iv. Christopher Tan Tee Ming
v. Kim Kimin
vi. Lee Seng Geak
vii. Siaw Kah Yee
viii. Bryant Lit Yew

In his keynote address, Prof Mike Smith acknowledged SHU’s appreciation to the value of partnership that the University has established with KBU and the college’s achievement in producing many hard-working, enthusiastic and successful students/graduates. He also urged the graduates to live up to all expectations as they joined the university’s roll of honour. SHU currently offers learning opportunities to more than 30,000 students and it is widely recognised as a centre for excellence in learning and teaching.
Prof Dato’ (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang, meanwhile, in his speech, expressed his deep appreciation to Sheffield Hallam University for being a great partner and strengthening KBU’s position as the major education provider of ‘3 + 0’ UK degree programmes in Malaysia. “We believe it is our duty to deliver quality and excellence through a holistic experience for our students and it’s through this firm commitment to quality and excellence, we are able to produce excellent results as seen in today’s graduation ceremony,” he added.

The ceremony marked another important milestone for KBU’s achievement in producing top quality graduates. This awards ceremony also called to recognise the dedication, perseverance and commitment of all the graduates who completed the degree programmes at KBU under the ‘3+0’ mode.
