INTI COLLEGE EXPANDS ITS HORIZONS ?NEW PROGRAMMES LAUNCHED!

In the effort to establish the latest expertise and education excellence inthe field of engineering and technology, INTI College is now conducting anew 3+0 degree programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with theUniversity of Bradford, United Kingdom. The University of Bradford is areputable university and it is ranked 3rd for its Mechanical Engineeringprogramme in the UK Times University Guide 2004.

Another new programme, the Biotechnology and Life Sciences programme is alsooffered in collaboration with three highly reputable tertiary educationinstitutions namely Australia?s University of Adelaide, New Zealand?sUniversity of Otago and Britain?s Northumbria University. The University ofAdelaide is a 5-star university in Australia; the University of Otago is oneof the top 3 universities in New Zealand and Northumbria University ranks5th among the top ten new universities in the United Kingdom.

The new programmes mentioned have been approved by the NationalAccreditation Board and the Private Education Department. To date, a totalof 47 programmes offered by INTI College are awarded full accreditation bythe Malaysian National Accreditation Board (LAN), making it one of thehighest numbers of accreditation given to a private college.

INTI offers a wide range of programmes at Certificate, Diploma and Bachelordegree levels. With the 3+0 programmes, students can complete their studieson-campus at INTI, and still obtain overseas degrees. Additionally, they canselect from an impressive list of prestigious universities and enrol in theAmerican, British, Australian or New Zealand Degree Transfer Program, beforegoing overseas to complete their degrees.

As a leading multi-campus and technologically-advanced institution of higherlearning in the country, INTI?s strategic alliances with world-classuniversities reflect its image as an institution of higher learning withfine faculties and facilities. INTI has a network that includes 300twinning, associate, partner and affiliate universities in the UnitedStates, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and is thefirst International Associate College of Coventry University and theUniversity of Hertfordshire, both in the UK.

Presently, 18 percent of INTI?s student population consists of internationalstudents representing more than 45 countries. This is a testimony to INTI?svision, and its desire to participate in the internationalisation ofeducation. Against the backdrop of this new frontier, INTI College has beenplaying a pivotal role in preparing graduates to face the demands andchallenges of globalisation.

Students have benefited greatly from the College?s emphasis onholistic education that focuses on academic achievement, leadershipqualities and social responsibilities through active participationin clubs and societies, community services and sports activities. At INTI,the concept of excellence extends beyond lecture halls and curriculums.Students are challenged to explore the unfamiliar, question stereotypes, andlearn the value of diversity and tolerance. These are attributes that willcreate the right mindset and attitudes needed when INTI graduates join theworkplace.

A major part of this holistic learning comes from participation in any ofthe over 60 clubs and activities INTI offers on campus, as well asinteraction with students of different ethnicities and nationalities. INTIstudents, through INTIMA, the student government, organise numerous culturaland sporting events that enrich the social life on campus. Other studentsupport services include the University Placement Department to assiststudents transferring abroad, the Student Affairs Office, Career &Counselling Centre and International Office for student enquiries, admissionand visa applications.

The College has invested in developing and supporting a comprehensive sportsand student services programme. In three consecutive tournaments, INTIemerged overall Champion in the MAPCU (Malaysian Association of PrivateColleges & Universities) Sports Tournament. INTI also won the MalaysiaNational Table Tennis League Championship in 2002.

INTI also offers its students opportunities for industrial attachments orgraduate internship. The Student Industrial Attachment/ Graduate InternshipProgramme (SIAGIP), designed to provide graduates with marketable skills, isfor current students in their second and third years as well as those whohave completed their studies and are seeking employment.

SIAGIP was designed by the Industrial External Attachment Committee (IEAC)to help existing and new graduates from various academic schools to movesmoothly from college into the work environment. The attachment orinternship will last from two weeks to six months, depending on thepreference of the organisation and students. The participating companieshave various specializations such as IT, business, engineering, insurance,securities and publishing.

INTI?s track record of achievements speaks volumes about its strongleadership, management expertise, and unwavering dedication of its team ofpersonnel across campuses.

INTI College also had the honour of receiving the National Creativity andInnovation Award 2004 from the Malaysia Design Technology Centre (MDTC) inrecognition of its use of creativity and innovation in building strong brandpresence and quality local product.

In 2003, INTI bagged four awards from the Ministry of Education Malaysia forhaving the highest enrolments of local and international students, highestnumber of overseas campuses and overall excellence.

In recognition of INTI?s quality academic programmes, the MS ISO 9001:2000Certification in the conduct and management of the Quality Management Systemwas awarded to INTI College Malaysia and INTI College Subang Jaya, by theStandard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM). The samecampuses have also been granted MSC-status, in recognition of theirinternationally-accepted programmes that are industry-driven.

In 2003, INTI College received one recognition from the UK and another fromthe USA. The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), UK gave INTI College top?commendable? rating for its 3+0 twinning programmes with the University ofHertfordshire and Coventry University, UK after an audit on the standardsand quality of the programmes last year.

INTI also became the first tertiary education institution in the country tobe awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for Achievement in Tradeby the United States Department of Commerce for its multinationalcooperation via academic collaboration, and having sent the largest numberof students to US universities.

In commemoration of its 18 years of active participation in the educationindustry, INTI College is offering a Sibling Loyalty Scheme 2005 to allMalaysian applicants who have brothers or sisters currently studying at INTICollege Malaysia, INTI College Subang Jaya, INTI College Sarawak, INTICollege Sabah, Metropolitan College or Genting INTI International College,or graduated from these colleges. They are entitled to a 20% special tuitionfee waiver for the first semester and 10% waiver for subsequent semesters.This scheme is only applicable for new students enrolling for the January,May or September 2005 intakes.

INTI College also offers three major scholarships: Achievement Scholarship,Merit Scholarship and the Sports/ Special Talent Scholarship. Studentstransferring to universities abroad can also apply for scholarships awardedby INTI?s collaborative universities in the United Kingdom, United States,Australia and New Zealand.

Over the past ten years, INTI has awarded as much as RM 51 million worth ofscholarships to over 4,651 deserving students. In the year 2003 alone, atotal of RM 7.3 million worth of scholarships were awarded to 623 bright anddeserving students. This year, a total of 698 students from INTI Collegereceived RM 8.6 million worth of scholarships from INTI and its partneruniversities in the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

Immediate approval for Merit Scholarship is also available at INTI CollegeMalaysia, Bandar Baru Nilai, and INTI College Subang Jaya for applicants whoscore 6As and above in the SPM or O-Level examination. The scholarshipsawarded come as tuition waivers of 20 to 100%.
