Dr. Wilson Tay, a 35-year veteran of academia and industry in Australasia and Malaysia, has been appointed as INTI International University (INTI IU)'s new Dean of School of Business, Communication and Law, bringing stronger support and implementation to its popular business programmes.

Dr Tay has served in many positions in well-known multinational corporations and public institutions. Over the last 12 years, he has been involved in organizational turnaround and development, performance management, entrepreneurs' development, executive coaching, business consultancy and teaching assignments in Malaysia and abroad.

An advocate of entrepreneurialism, Dr. Tay believes that INTI's education principals provide youth with a holistic experience and exposure to the business world that is unmatched by other institutions.

"At INTI, our primary goal is to ensure our students graduate not only as skilled individuals, but as inspired thinkers that are resilient towards challenges. They must be equipped with a winning spirit in order to take our nation's economy to the next level. One of the ways we instill this is by combining our quality programmes with lectures by industry representatives. Additionally, this helps further talent and human capital development – a necessity, if our industries are to remain competitive in the global marketplace," he said.

INTI has embarked on many partnerships and initiatives to provide students with exposure to the industry. One such initiative is the Business Leadership Series, which provides INTI's 12,000 strong student community an opportunity to engage with industry experts in addition to having real time dialogues and debates on topical issues. It has seen prominent corporate leaders such as Google Malaysia's Sajith Sivanandan, Media Prima's Ahmad Izham Omar, Dell's Bobbi Dangerfield, Microsoft Malaysia's Ananth Lazarus, Frost & Sullivan's Manoj Menon, IBM's Ramanathan Sathiamutty and many others speaking to INTI students on the latest trends and developments in business and career opportunities on a global scale.

Further emphasizing INTI's widespread partnerships are the range of business programmes that can be completed either domestically or overseas. INTI's goal is to allow students to choose pathways that not only match their interests but also their financial needs.

"Providing flexibility in the form of homegrown or foreign programmes is essential to ensuring all our students can gain access to quality education. However, we believe INTI is equipped to take students further through added exposure like our Semester Abroad Programme. Made possible through the Laureate International Universities Network of over 130 campuses, students have a chance to experience a semester abroad while maintaining local fees. Combine this with the 300 universities accessible through our American Degree Transfer Programme and the possibilities are almost endless," said Dr Tay, whose overseas work experience included executive assignments with Curtin University of Technology, Murdoch University, Price Waterhouse & Co, Dampier Salt Limited, CRA Limited (now Rio Tinto of Australia) and the Art Gallery of WA.

In Malaysia, he has held the positions of Vice President of Multimedia Development Corporation as the Head of the MSC Technopreneur Development Flagship responsible for the development of technopreneurs and the ICT SMEs; CEO of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) where he was involved in the strategic leadership, turnaround and repositioning of the Institute; and Chairman of TMS Berhad, a Bursa listed software technology company. He has also been an adjunct Associate Professor and Faculty Member of several local and overseas institutions of higher learning.

"It is my hope to make a better difference at INTI and to continue ensuring our students get access to quality, wholesome education and be better prepared to contribute towards business success in Malaysia," Dr. Tay concluded.

Students of INTI benefit not only from its over 25 years of experience and strong track-record, but also gain from the global synergy and resources that Laureate International Universities provides. Laureate International Universities is the world's largest private education network with a presence in 29 countries, with more than 60 accredited universities and 130 campuses, serving more than 675,000 students globally.
