University of Nottingham is among the top 1 percent university
KUALA LUMPUR, FEBRUARY 21: The University of Nottingham is ranked in the UK's top 20 and the World's top 100 universities according to the Shanghai Jiao Tong (SJTU) and Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. This brings the university to a league of top one percent of universities worldwide.
Nottingham is famous for its ground-breaking internationalisation, being the first UK university to establish campuses in Malaysia and China. The University of Nottingham is a community of more than 35,000 students from around 150 countries studying across campuses in China, Malaysia and the UK. As a research led university, the campuses coordinated research to address global issues and needs. The Times Good University 2009 declared that "Nottingham is the nearest Britain has to a truly global university.
The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC), is a full and integral part of the University, was founded in 2000. It occupies a 125-acre purpose-built site to the south of Kuala Lumpur. Currently more than 4000 students study for UK degrees on the campus.
UNMC is led by senior academic staff seconded from the UK who ensure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment. All students receive personal tutorial attention from qualified academic staff, and most have the opportunity to spend one semester on the UK or China campus during their studies.
All programmes are internationally recognised and accredited as University of Nottingham, UK, awards. Degree certificates are 'University of Nottingham' degree qualifications, irrespective of campus or country.
Employers recognise Nottingham graduates as amongst the most talented and highly qualified, and we have a strong network of alumni associations and industry partners offering internships, careers guidance and employment opportunities in a wide range of professions. Nottingham graduates have secured employed before their graduation date.
In June 2010 the university was rated 'excellent' in The Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education, known as Setara. This accolade followed the conferment of 'Self-Accrediting Status' on UNMC by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. This highly significant move granted UNMC the power to approve and accredit its own degree programmes.
Self-accreditation is an initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia and is only awarded to mature institutions with a well-established reputation for delivering the very best degree programmes.
UNMC achieved Tier Five or "Excellent" status in the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education 2009 (Setara).
The University of Nottingham is also a research led university. The academic community at The University of Nottingham continues to produce world-changing research by focusing on the problems and challenges that affect societies and people on a wide scale.
Achieving this involves :

- Exchanging knowledge which generates real economic, social, environmental and cultural impact
