Institution Overview

About Us

Owned by 2 prestigious universities, the International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW) was established based on a mutual partnership between the University of Malaya (UM) & the University of Wales, UK in 2012. Since then, the University has experienced tremendous growth and remains committed to developing students who are ready to contribute to the next industrial revolution.

IUMW is one of the first universities in Malaysia to offer their programmes as Dual Awards. Dual Awards programmes are offered in collaboration with our partner university, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), UK. When students graduate, they will receive certification from both IUMW and UWTSD. This is a valuable opportunity for students to experience global education by spending a semester at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and obtain dual degrees from the UK and IUMW.

The IUMW campus is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, beside Tunku Hill and surrounded by breathtaking lush greenery. Being near Putra KTM Station, PWTC LRT Station and a mall allow students to easily reach the campus with various public transportation options.

Getting to IUMW and other destinations from there has never been easier, as IUMW is connected to an excellent transportation network!

IUMW is seamlessly connected to the rest of the world through KL Sentral and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. You can travel to the university from the airport with just rail transportation alone.

It is also a short walking distance from the university to Bistari Condominium and Villa Putra - our student accommodation.

Our neighbourhood is a satellite transit hub, with several train stations within walking distance from IUMW - the LRT PWTC, and KTM Putra. Combined with the Go KL public bus service that offers free rides for commuters within the Central Business District of Kuala Lumpur, travelling to various parts of Kuala Lumpur can be free of charge! IUMW offers excellent connectivity and convenience to its students.

International Student Support Services and Financial Assistance

The International Office (ISO) looks after all aspects of the University’s interactions with institutions and students from outside of Malaysia. International prospective students and our current international students can rely on support from our International Office on a range of matters both before applying to the University and during their time here. This includes student welfare and advice, student visas, and medical insurance matters.

The ISO ensures that all international students are taken care of from start to finish whether it is with their first few steps on Malaysian soil or when they are finally graduating. Off-campus accommodation services will also be arranged so students are left with the peace of mind to study and adapt to their new lives in Malaysia.

International Recognition and Achievements

IUMW is an MQA accredited university and is also one of the first universities in South East Asia that is recognised by the United Kingdom’s Higher Education Academy (HEA). IUMW boasts recognition by professional bodies such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents (BoVAEA); and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). IUMW is also an approved learning centre by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), a professional institution for management based in the United Kingdom, and the only organisation that can offer Chartered Manager status. The Biotechnology programme at IUMW is accredited by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT).
