Who We Are

Widad University College founding principle as Private Higher Education Institution that has been approved and validated by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia as a modern and progressive institution. The opportunity for a child of every class to become great and useful in the destinies of this country was the original value and purpose of Widad University College establishment. It's also why, from the very start, talented students of all backgrounds were given the chance to access further education through bursaries and scholarships.

In addition, Tan Sri Muhammad Ikmal Opat Abdullah, the Founder of Widad Education Sdn. Bhd. that owned Widad University College and Widad College; Pro Chancellor of Widad University College, has established Yayasan Royal Widad which offer hundreds of scholarships to support and encourage talented students, and a range of grants and bursaries to those who need a financial helping hand.

Our excellence in research and teaching makes Widad University College one of the top universities in Malaysia especially in Medicine and Allied Sciences fields and ranked SETARA 5 by The Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

Where We Are

In-term of geographical location, Widad University College and Widad College located at Bandar Indera Mahkota, Kuantan, Pahang Darul Makmur. Set around the largest city in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Kuantan is home to beautiful golden beaches, world-class reserve forest and marine park, delicious fresh food, and a calendar of exciting events and festivals.

The International Centre is the point of contact for collaboration of International programmes. The Centre also oversees all International programmes. International Centre will also assist you in many ways including facilitating your admission, immigration, arrivals, life in Kuantan, Malaysia and helping you to learn your way around the Widad University College.

YBhg. Brigadier General (R) Professor Dato' Ts Dr. Hj. Shohaimi Abdullah Vice Chancellor , Widad University College Brig Gen (Retired) Prof Dato’ Ts Dr. Shohaimi bin Abdullah was commissioned into the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (“EME”) Corps of the Malaysian Army after completing his Army Cadetship in 1982. Among the prominent posts that he has held during his service in the Army were; the Commandant of Institute of Engineering of the Army, the Director of the Corp of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, The Director of Equipment Procurement at the Army Headquarters and the Head of the Electrical Mechanical Engineers Group at the Army Logistic Headquarters taking charge of the maintenance of the Malaysian Army fleet of equipment. Prof Shohaimi was called to provide his service at the National Defence University Malaysia (“UPNM”) in August 2008 as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering. He shines in his new post with numerous research projects especially in the field of defence technology. He has published numerous research papers in high index journals in the area of defence engineering. Prof Shohaimi was promoted to the grade of a full Professor on January 2012. He was also appointed to head the UPNM Institute of Executive Studies (“NIEEd”), a business branch of the UPNM, with the title of Assistant Vice Chancellor, to provide for executive courses for military officers and rank and files. Prof Shohaimi was later appointed as the Dean of the Centre of Post Graduate Studies prior to leaving UPNM in 2016. While in UPNM and after leaving the institution, Prof Shohaimi has served various other higher education institutions as follow: Vice Chancellor, WIDAD University College from June 2018 – current. b. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Quality Assurance), SEGi University, Kuala Lumpur – June 2016 to June 2018 Chief Executive, International College of Automotive Malaysia, Pekan Pahang from 2012 to 2014. (on attachment from UPNM to upgrade the college to a full university status, later the DRB Hicom University Malaysia - DHUAM) Prof Shohaimi has provided an excellent academic leadership to WIDAD University College, instrumental in improving the ranking in the Rating System for Malaysian Higher Education Institutions (SETARA) to FIVE STAR (VERY COMPETITIVE) for the assessment year 2018/2019, two rankings higher from the previous THREE STAR (GOOD) for 2016/2017 assessment.
