About IMC

The International Medical College (IMC) the former Pantai College of Nursing & Health Science, was established in 1993 to train nurses for the Pantai Group of Hospitals. The College, located strategically at Subang Jaya, Selangor and its second centre at Ayer Keroh, Malacca, assumes the responsibility to train and develop a new generation of nurses and allied health professionals. With support of the Pantai & Gleneagles Group of Hospitals, the College has a long standing reputation in providing nursing education, which is well recognised locally and internationally.

In 2012, the College was acquired by IMU Health Sdn Bhd, which also owns International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 25 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. IMU Health Sdn Bhd is one of the subsidiaries of IHH Healthcare Bhd, one of the largest listed private healthcare providers in the world based on market capitalisation, with a focus on markets in Asia and the Central and East Europe and Middle East and North Africa (CEEMENA) region.

Diploma in Nursing Programme

The 3-year Diploma in Nursing offered at the IMC strives for excellence in preparing future nurses to be knowledgeable, competent, compassionate and ethical professionals. The programme commences in January, April, July and September each year.

International Medical College (IMC)

This full time programme is 6 semesters, comprising of the 3 core sciences: Health, Behavioural and Nursing Sciences with the theory taught in college after which the students are to practise and apply acquired knowledge into real-live situation where each student is to nurse 2-3 patients in the hospitals under the supervision of clinical instructors during the scheduled clinical posting in every semester.

The programme is taught in English. Both English literacy and communications are embedded in the 6 semesters as part of enhancing the English proficiency and communication skills to ensure they are ready to engage patients, other healthcare professionals and doctors when they graduate.

The Diploma in Nursing is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifying Agency, Ministry of Higher Education and Nursing Board Malaysia.


Campus and Student Life

International Medical College (IMC)

Currently, both the campuses can house about 600 students. The College offers a wide variety of facilities for the students to make the most of their study experience here. The student services help to manage the many things to help them settle in college life.

College life is more than academic, the students will have the opportunity to interact and engage in new friendships, interests and experiences. Senior peers are there to provide guidance to orientate students to new environment, foster new friendships, and introduce the range of student led clubs and societies. Study groups can be formed to support each other and peer learning is an important part of student life in college.

A counsellor is available during college hours for advice and consultation, as well as a warden at the hostel who cares for students’ needs and to take them to clinics when they are ill.


Accommodation at Hostel

Furnished accommodation is provided (included in the fees) in Subang Jaya, Selangor and Ayer Keroh, Melaka in a 3 or 4- bedroom apartment within walking distance to both campuses. Each apartment is furnished with bed, individual study table, dining table, curtains, equipment for cooking, refrigerator and stand fans.

A warden is at the hostel to look after the welfare of the students. The hostels are guarded by 24 hours security services provided by the hostel management to ensure the safety of the students. Students’ movement in-and-out of the hostels are monitored by CCTV and guards for security reasons.

Our students are placed in the following hospitals for clinical exposure with Clinical Instructors supervising their learning. Transport is provided to the hospitals and the cost of this is included in the tuition fees.

Employment Ready Graduates

Registration with Nursing Board Malaysia

Upon completion of the 3 years of training, they are registered with the Nursing Board of Malaysia. They can seek employment in Malaysia and internationally.

Key Personnel

Christy Chiu

Chief Executive Officer , International Medical College (IMC)

Christy Chiu is currently Chief Executive Officer of IMC Education Sdn Bhd and Chief Operating Officer of IMU Education Sdn Bhd. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Monash University, Australia. She is a Fellow of CPA Australia and member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

She was previously an auditor and an accountant in Malaysia and New Zealand. She returned to Malaysia in 1992 and joined IMC as a Financial Controller and continued in IMU as a project leader for Strategic Planning in addition to being the Chief Financial Officer. She has passion to ensure quality medical and healthcare education is accessible to many Malaysians and those in the region.
