The Netherlands Maritime Institute of Technology (NMIT) is a Dutch-Malaysian private higher learning institution that specialises in maritime education. Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz
One of NMIT’s Dutch partners, Maritiem Instituut Willem Barentsz (MIWB), has been known as one of the best equipped maritime training institutes in the Netherlands since 1875. The institute was named after ‘Willem Barentsz’, a gifted sailor, cartographer and explorer. MIWB has international linkages with maritime universities and institutes worldwide. It has a sophisticated state-of-the- art full mission simulator centre.
De Ruyter Maritime Institute
NMIT’s second partner is Maritiem Instituut de Ruyter, an equally influential maritime institution that was founded in 1903. It is one of the leading maritime educational institutes in Western Europe. The institute’s quality of education, its extensive international network, research facilities and consultancy services are top of the league. Strategically situated between the biggest ports of Europe (Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Antwerp and Ghent), the institute works together with all major carriers, port authorities and other businesses in the maritime and logistics industry. These two partners help NMIT in developing its courses and much more. After studying at NMIT, students get the opportunity to go on a two-week study tour in the Netherlands to visit Maritiem Instituut Willem Barentsz and Maritiem Instituut de Ruyter.

NMIT provides state-of-the-art learning technologies and facilities for its students and the courses offered are based on practical and industry-oriented curriculum. Located at EduCity@Iskandar, the integrated campus will allow NMIT students to socialise with students from all other universities. Students will live together in one giant international student village and will share sports and leisure facilities far beyond those any single university could afford, including a 14,000-seater stadium and an Olympic-length swimming pool.
NMIT is the first and only school in South-East Asia that offers courses in Maritime Management.
