UCSI inks agreement with YPPB

October 3, 2013 | Campus News

KUALA LUMPUR: UCSI University (UCSI) recently signed a pledge agreement with Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (YPPB) – an agency under the Prime Minister’s Office – to provide more educational opportunities to Bumiputera students to further their studies in various fields.

The agreement sees UCSI sponsoring half the tuition fees of selected students for 12 programmes listed in the agreement.

Notably, the first agreement was inked in early January 2013 and six YPPB students were successfully placed at UCSI – this number grew to 35 students in total in September this year.

Officiating the signing ceremony with YPPB chief executive officer Raja Azura Raja Mahayuddin, UCSI vice-chancellor and president Prof Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff pointed out that there is a need to elevate the country’s performance to ensure Malaysia becomes a developed nation by 2020.

“The best answer to this is education. By obtaining technical knowledge and soft skills through quality education, students will be able to go further,” he said, emphasising the importance of seeing the world as a place with endless career opportunities.

Raja Azura is of a similar view, adding that students would need to identify their goals, not only to excel in their studies but to also be on par with other prodigious students around the world.

With this agreement, she adds, both parties will work closely to ensure deserving students are provided financial assistance to get the best education and career opportunities.

This partnership is anticipated to be one of the many collaborative efforts between the two parties in the future.
