King’s daughter is new UUM chancellor

ALOR STAR: Kedah Council of Regency member Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Shafinaz has been appointed as new Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) chancellor.
She replaces her father, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.
UUM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said the university appointed “Tunku Puteri Intan Shafinaz as the new chancellor to relieve her father, who had his hands full with his duties.
Tunku Puteri Intan Shafinaz will serve until the end of Sultan Abdul Halim’s tenure as king.
Mustafa said the appointment was consented to by the king on Sept 9 and an official ceremony on her appointment would be held during UUM’s 27th convocation on Saturday.
The five-day convocation will see 6,608 students graduating at its Muadzam Shah Hall.
