Another good year 10 schools enjoy outstanding UPSR results in Penang

PENANG recorded improved Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) results with 16,132 pupils scoring a pass among the 23,629 who sat for it this year.

State Education Department deputy director Dr Sharifah Bee Aboo Bakar said 69.28% of pupils passed the exam this year compared with 68.55% last year.

“However, there was a decrease in the percentage of those scoring As in all the subjects.

“This year, 2,335 pupils obtained As in all their subjects compared with 2,752 candidates last year,” she told a press conference at SK Convent Bukit Mertajam yesterday.

She said 10 schools produced outstanding results. They were SK Permatang Tok Jaya, SK Convent Bukit Mertajam, SJK (C) Perempuan Cina, SK Bertam Indah, SK Minden Height, SJK (C) Kwang Hwa, SK Convent Green Lane, SJK (C) Hun Bin, SK Taman Senangan and SJK (C) Shih Chung Cawangan.

SK Convent Bukit Mertajam produced the best results among the national schools category while SJK (C) Perempuan Cina and SJK (T) Ladang Malakoff topped the Chinese and Tamil schools categories respectively.
