ESMOD Kuala Lumpur’s Creative Fashion Student Seized a Place in an International T-shirt Design Competition

ESMOD Kuala Lumpur fashion design student, Eng Xiao Fen received the title ‘Encouragement Prize’ from her participation at the ESMOD Seoul International T-shirt Design Contest, held in conjunction of ESMOD Seoul’s 25th anniversary.

The international contest received 574 participants, who are students from 15 ESMOD schools ranging from ESMOD Lyon, Paris, Roubaix, Tokyo, Berlin, Bordeaux, Dubai, Jakarta, Munich, Osaka, Sao Paulo, Tunis and of course, Seoul.

Aspiring Fashion Designer Eng Xiao Fen from ESMOD Kuala Lumpur The One Academy was pleased of her achievement received from participating in the competition. Xiao Fen also expressed that she is grateful for her industry-experienced lecturers’ guidance and encouragement to join and flaunt her fashion art sense. According to ESMOD Kuala Lumpur’s European lecturers, it is certainly a good start for students to try and breakthrough in the industry especially through competitions, as this will help them build confidence in their creations and understand industry requirements.

When asked to share her thoughts and feelings about the participation, Xiao Fen said, she did not expect to be selected as one of the winners at all because she wasn’t focusing on winning, only wanted to participate to share her work. Xiao Fen received a certificate to commemorate her participation.

Xiao Fen submitted a t-shirt design that showcased ESMOD Seoul’s 25th Anniversary. Xiao Fen explained that, part of the process includes designing the print for a straight cut t-shirt with long or short sleeves; in the front she included the number ‘25’, and incorporated plenty of the word ‘ESMOD’ and ‘SEOUL’ all around the design. Xiao Fen also added the “stone grandfather”, a Korean feature that is loved by tourists.

When asked what inspired her to study fashion design course at The One Academy, Xiao Fen shared “One of the reasons that prompted me to study fashion design at ESMOD Kuala Lumpur The One Academy, is because I am given the chance to learn French Language and visit top capital fashion world like Paris, France for our study trips that is part of our programmes”.
