In search of best talents around the country, The One Academy proudly presents the Malaysia Top 10 Outstanding Young Artist Award 2015, the 18th annual edition of the groundbreaking talent-seeking art competition where scholarships and fantastic prizes worth more than RM600,000.00 await the winners!

Celebrating the much-anticipated release of Disney’s latest animation Inside Out, this prestigious competition is open to all secondary school students in Malaysia. It is proudly supported by Walt Disney Studios Malaysia and the Multimedia Development Corporation of Malaysia (MDEC), and sponsored by Gempak and Comic King.

To seek the best talents, Malaysia Top 10 Outstanding Young Artists Award was held in 9 venues across the country, and are coming again to seek the best talents this year.

Among the prizes are The One Academy scholarships worth RM60,000, RM50,000 and RM40,000 for the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners respectively, besides awesome movie merchandises and other presents. Besides challenging and inspiring the young minds to think creatively, it also provides an opportunity for young Malaysians further understand the bountiful career opportunities offered by the creative industry.

Entering its 18th year, this annual competition is held annually in conjunction with the releases of animated feature by Disney or Pixar, two prominent animation studios of The Walt Disney Company, beginning with A Bug’s Life in 1998. Over the years, it has offered more than RM15 million worth of scholarships to talented youths. Participants shall attend the competition at the location of their choice and create an artwork based on the theme ‘Little Voices in the Mind’.

With thoughtful deployment of various media such as water colour, crayon and marker pens, contestants diligently completed their masterpieces based on incredible imagination.

Apart from the highly anticipated award event, there are also other not-to-be-missed creative happenings in store for everyone, including Live Digital Painting Demonstration conducted by talented The One Academy lecturers, as well as the Multimedia Workshop where audience will explore the sophisticated technique on how art & design is integrated, together with various multimedia installation created by our brilliant students.

That’s more! Come and be awed by an array of short animated films created by our best of the best Digital Animation students, groomed by none other than our international Pixar lecturers! Besides, you will also be fascinated by our well-received and inspiring creative talks, where aspiring youths and parents can learn about the latest development in the world of advertising, design and digital creativity, it’s the best platform for students to learn about what it takes to be part of the worldwide avant-garde art and design industry!

The competition will be held in stages. In the Preliminary Round (mail-in / online submission), participants are required to design a creative ‘Emoji’ that best describe yourself on a given space. Fill in the personal details needed. Submit the form with the ‘Emoji’ design at the official competition website, or post to the organizers before 22nd May 2015. Shortlisted students will be invited to attend the Second Round (on-the-spot competition) at the location of their choice and create an artwork based on the theme ‘Little Voices in the Mind’. The locations included Johor Bahru, Johor on 12th June 2015, Batu Pahat, Johor on 13th June 2015, Sibu, Sarawak on 20th June 2015, Kuching, Sarawak on 21st June 2015, Georgetown, Penang and Tawau, Sabah on 27th June 2015, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 28th June 2015, as well as Ipoh, Perak on 4th July 2015. Finally on 11th July 2015, the grand finale will come to Bandar Sunway, Selangor.

Teachers and Counsellors are welcome to attend the creative festival conducted by our talented lecturers and award-winning Animation Showcase at all locations, as well as the Prize Presentation Ceremony to be held in right after the competition in Bandar Sunway.

By organising Malaysia Top 10 Outstanding Young Artists Award and Malaysia Top 10 Creative Youth Award – Platinum Achievers Award that acknowledges outstanding graduates, The One Academy has established a holistic platform to seek, nurture and champion creativity.
