TVET could close gaps in world economies: Idris Jusoh

KUALA LUMPUR: Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) is the pathway of the 21st century and the way forward that could potentially close the existing gaps in the economies of the globe, said Minister of Higher Education Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.

Delivering the keynote address on the second day of the Asia-Pacific Conference on Education and Training (ACET) 2015 here today Idris said that TVET was needed to strategise ways to overcome the disparity in income growth between the rich and poor.

"Over the past 30 years, markets and economies around the world have become more integrated and interdependent. Changes in business practices and technology are constantly evolving, thus creating demands for jobs requiring new skills and knowledge.

"In keeping up with the current trends, innovative strategies for skills development have to be formulated in ensuring its functionality for the future," he said.
