WORDS OF WISDOM: Katrina Ann Hadi sharing some of her experiences and success stories with first year UCSI students at the University Life Showcase.

KUALA LUMPUR: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy - the saying sums up national synchronised swimmer, Katrina Ann Hadi’s advice to over 580 UCSI students. The athlete was one of two invited guests who spoke to UCSI students during the University Life Showcase event held on campus recently.

Pointing out that her swimming training takes between six to eight hours a day, Katrina shared that time management was important for her to have a balanced life.

“University is about making friends and learning who you are but you must have good time management. You have to learn to balance work and play.” she said.

The students also benefitted from insights shared by talented singer-songwriter from Sabah, Christian B. Palencia.

WHEN GREAT MINDS MEET: UCSI Vice-Chancellor and President, Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff and Katrina Ann Hadi sharing ideas on success attributes.

The session was part of the University Life Showcase - a course offered by the Centre of Excellence for Learning & Teaching (CELT) for first year students. The main focus of the course is to integrate theoretical coursework with hands-on experience – in line with UCSI’s Praxis® approach that advocates the application of theory to practice. This provides students with skills such as identifying learning styles, effective study techniques, presentation skills, as well as communication and leadership skills that will bring them far in their careers.

Themed ‘Rising Stars’, the event saw students set up 56 booths and conduct performances to showcase the remarkable journeys and achievements of their chosen young role models.

The event was officiated by UCSI Vice-Chancellor and President, Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff.

In his opening remarks, Senior Prof Dato’ Dr Khalid shared that, “The University has worked hard to turn this campus into an international campus, conducive to education.”
