Double Celebrations For Sunway International School

Kuala Lumpur, 25 May 2016 – Sunway International School (SIS) celebrates the month of May winning ‘Gold’ in the Reader’s Digest (RD) Trusted Brand Award 2016.

SIS is the first and only school to win this prestigious award for the Private/International school category continuously since it was first introduced in 2015.

SIS’s Executive Director, Cheng Mien Wee, received the Award on behalf of the School from YB Puan Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department at the celebration dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. “SIS is honoured by this Award. We thank our students and parents for their trust and support in choosing SIS as their international school of choice”, said Cheng. “SIS’s positive reputation arises from the good work of caring and experienced teachers and administrators at the School”, she added.

The RD Trusted Brand Award is a significant distinction for SIS. The survey, conducted by independent global consumer research organisation, canvassed a representative sample of approximately 5,000 individuals in six of Asia’s key markets: Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, India and Taiwan.

SIS’s accolades this year also include the ‘5-Star’ rating for private and international schools by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia. SIS was rated excellent for achieving the highest rating in the Standard Kualiti Institusi Pendidikan Swasta (SKIPS) 2015. The SKIPS assessment, developed and fully monitored by the MOE, encompasses numerous criteria including the school’s curriculum, teaching and learning, academic excellence, facilities, and quality processes. The SKIPS rating is MOE’s benchmark set to ensure private and international schools in Malaysia provide quality education and outstanding services to the community. The 5-Star rating is the highest award and it is granted only to schools with excellent results in the required criteria.

Cheng believed that these awards and recognition will inspire staff and students at SIS to do more and contribute greatly to the community. “SIS values what these awards mean. We will continue to work hard to honour the confidence given to us”.

At Sunway International School, the motto is “Nurturing Minds, Building Character”.
