7th International Conference on Manufacturing Science and Technology to be a most engaging one

Miri – 24 June 2016 – The 7^th International Conference on Manufacturing Science and Technology (ICMST) in Miri from 16 to 18 July 2016 promises to be a most engaging one, judging not only from the line-up of keynote speakers but also the expected number of delegates and paper submissions received.

The conference, to be held at the campus of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak), is jointly organised by the International Academy of Computer Technology (IACT) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Science.

The ICMST conference series started off in Puerto Rico in 2010 and since then, it has been held in Singapore (2011), India (2012), the United Arab Emirates (2013), Malaysia (2014) and Brunei (2015). Curtin Sarawak also hosted the 2014 conference.

ICMST provides an effective platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and information on the latest developments and innovations in the field of engineering and the sciences. It also offers the ideal avenue to initiate further collaborative research in green technology among local and international participants.

In particular, the conference focuses on state-of-the-art technologies relating to manufacturing science and technology research such as machinery, electronic equipment and the manufacturing and textile industries, as well as resource processing industries.

Among the conference’s keynote speakers are Professor Cees de Bont of Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Professor Mohd. Hamdi bin Abdul Shukor of University Malaya; Associate Professor Sujan Debnath of Curtin Sarawak; Professor Yusri bin Hj. Yusof of University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia; Associate Professor Vijay Sekar of SSN College of Engineering, India; and Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Edwin Jong Nyon Tchan of Jurutera Perunding Akal, Malaysia.

According to Associate Professor Sujan Debnath, the conference chair and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Curtin Sarawak, the focus of the conference in recent years has been on finding eco-friendly and sustainable solutions in manufacturing science and technology. He said engineers, researchers, managers and educationalists have the utmost responsibility in building a sustainable development for future generations.

Academics and scientists, as well as professional engineers and representatives from the industries, are invited to share and contribute their research achievements at the conference.

Some 50 papers are expected to be presented at the conference. All accepted papers will be peer-reviewed by two to three reviewers and all registered and presented papers will be published in volumes of Materials Science Forum (ISSN: 1662-9752), indexed by Elsevier: SCOPUS, Ei Compendex (CPX), Index Copernicus Journals Master List, Google Scholar and others.

IACT plays an influential role in promoting developments in computer technology. Its mission is to foster and conduct collaborative interdisciplinary research using state-of-the-art methodologies and technologies within its areas of expertise.
