ESMOD Graduation Fashion Show 2016

August 9, 2016 | Campus News

ESMOD Graduation Fashion Show 2016 August 9, 2016Over thirty ESMOD Kuala Lumpur Fashion Design students have just launched 2 latest collections - The Cut and The Last Supper. Coming from 2 different teams, namely Team 1301 and Team 1308, these fashion design students have curated the most creative and amazing handmade and handsewn collection showcased in the recent ESMOD Fashion Graduation Show 2016. Made with the best materials that perfectly represent each unique design, these collections is one of its kind and not available in the market as they are, after all, works done for a graduation exhibition.

While the styles of both collections, totalling over 120 trendsetting garments, were retrospective of the quirky modern era which saw celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Bjork, the late David Bowie or the late Prince adorned with their outlandish fashion sense, here, in Malaysia, we have ESMOD Kuala Lumpur fashion design students drawing inspiration from the world around them translated in these idiosyncratic designs.

THE CUT derived its name from being cut from random ideas that became a source of inspiration during the making of each garment and each of them has its personalised story told with every stitch and every detail. The word ‘CUT’ also stands for Creative, Understanding and Technique. THE LAST SUPPER, whereas, is aptly named after the infamous Da Vinci painting as this show will feature the final best efforts by students who incorporated a large range of concepts, feelings and emotions much like those brought through the painting, within the design of their collection.ESMOD Graduation Fashion Show 2016 August 9, 2016

As over 40 models took hold of the runway in their stride of pride while catwalking outlandishly sexy outfits that defies the mainstream fashion or usual commercial ready-to-wear collections, various dispositions of the newly-launched collections were thrown into the mix – from gothic

designs, geometry-inspired garments, a-single-red-thread-themed garments to poncho-inspired and asymmetrical dresses. These non-mainstream designs revealed the students’ exceptional creativity and non-conventional thinking cultivated during their tenure at ESMOD Kuala Lumpur.

Also invited to witness the fashion show were well-known names who’ve made their mark in the world of fashion such as Keith Kee, a fast-rising star in the Malaysian bridal fashion industry, Carven Ong who was named Asian's Top Fashion Designer of the Year in 2009 by Fashion Asia and Amber Tan who specialises in handmade bridal and evening wears here and in London.ESMOD Graduation Fashion Show 2016 August 9, 2016
