Taylor’s University enables world class education with innovative scholarship

Sixteen recipients to enjoy full scholarship and guaranteed industry exposure with world-class corporations

Subang Jaya, 11 October 2019 - Taylor’s University welcomed 16 high achievers into the ranks of its prestigious Taylor’s World Class Scholarship (TWCS) award programme, growing its reach to close to 200 youth since its inception.

The 16 recipients of this year’s scholarship received their award at a special ceremony at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus.

The Taylor’s World Class Scholarship, now in its 14th year, is designed to provide holistic developmental support for recipients, combining a full scholarship with a guaranteed internship or a place in the management trainee programme with world-class industry partners. The 2019 industry partners are BASF Petronas, BDO, BMW, CIMB Group, DwP, Edelman, Four Seasons, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, L’Oréal, Mandarin Oriental, Maybank, Microsoft, Mondelez, Oracle and Veritas Design Group. Taylor’s has invested approximately more than RM 19 million in Taylor’s World Class Scholarship award programme to date.

Taylor’s University Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Michael Driscoll said when it was founded 14 years ago, the Taylor’s World Class Scholarship award programme aimed to address relevant work history and a holistic approach to education.

“Our students’ holistic development is our ultimate priority. To this end, we ensure that our curriculum is updated and current with what the industry requires, and innovate on our students’ total experience while learning at Taylor’s. Part of this is our innovation with the Taylor’s World Class Scholarship programme, which equips students not just with financial support but also by opening doors to the best industrial experience in the country today.

Taylor’s University was recognised for this indicator in two other ranking exercises as well; QS World University Rankings 2020 and Asia University Rankings 2019,” he added.

Apart from receiving insights from an industry level education approach, recipients will also be able to further improve their soft skills, such as leadership and time management skills through a structured training programme crafted during their internship placement.
