Mark of Distinction for TAR UC GraduateMarch 5, 2021 | Campus News
A true testament to Tunku Abdul Rahman University College’s (‘TAR UC’) quality education, Chong Annie, a graduate from TAR UC, scored distinction for the Company Secretarial Practice paper in the November 2020 examination of the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (‘CGQP’). The CGQP is a professional qualification of the Chartered Governance Institute (‘CGI’), formerly known as the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (‘ICSA’). CGI is the leading recognised professional body for Chartered Secretaries and Chartered Governance Professionals in the world.
Annie graduated from TAR UC in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) and began her preparations for the CGQP examinations which were set in November 2020. In addition, she also started her first job as Company Secretary Assistant. “As a fresh graduate, my biggest challenge is to juggle between working, studying, and my personal life. Not to mention that each paper is quite challenging as it requires a lot of reading and understanding which is important to properly answer the examination questions. In addition, each paper covers many topics, making it even harder to manage my time. So, I had to ensure I made effective use of my time properly. Besides this, I also avoided studying everything in one go but instead, I gave myself ample time to study chapter by chapter so that I thoroughly understood the concepts and contents of each chapter,” she detailed.
Although graduated from TAR UC, Annie’s lecturers were always keeping in touch with her to provide any help and guidance she needed in preparation for the examinations. “One of the reasons I studied at TAR UC is because upon completing my degree in Corporate Administration, I will be exempted from 3 out of 7 papers of CGQP. I am also grateful for TAR UC especially the helpful and knowledgeable lecturers who journey with me not only in my examinations but also in my career. Although I am no longer their student, they willingly shared their experience and knowledge, as well as allocated some time to give me online lessons, materials and even some consultation which were very helpful for me,” Annie shared.
TAR UC students who completed their Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) will receive the maximum exemption of 3 out of 7 papers of the CGQP and upon completion of CGQP, students will obtain their Chartered membership from CGI.
