Another Royal Affair is Coming to TAR UMT

March 3, 2023 | Campus News

Another grand celebration fit for royalty is set to take place at the Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Kuala Lumpur Campus on 11 March 2023. This time it would be a dinner called “A Celebration of TAR UMT’s Upgrade and Its Student Loan Fund Donors”. The dinner will be graced by His Royal Highness Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, the Sultan of Selangor, and Her Royal Highness Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor.

Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy, a member of the Board of Governors of TAR UMT, and Chairman of TAR UMT Alumni Council is the man behind this important dinner which is meant to appreciate the many student loan fund donors who have established loan funds for needy and deserving students to pursue their studies at TAR UMT and to also celebrate the recent upgrade of TAR UMT to a full-fledged university.

“Prior to this dinner, the various alumni bodies at TAR UMT including myself have been on and about seeking new donors to set up loan funds at TAR UMT to help many more needy students to study at TAR UMT. This is important as the effects of the pandemic have been very significant and continue to affect many needy TAR UMT students to complete their studies at the University. As alumni who have benefitted so much from this institution, we knew it was time to help the institution establish more student loan funds because, at TAR UMT, it is our belief that no one should be forced to stop their studies because of financial burden.”

“At present, TAR UMT has 53 student loan funds and we aim to help the University establish a total of 100 student loan funds. However, looking at the tremendous hard work and effort by the University’s alumni bodies, I am confident TAR UMT will have more than 100 student loan funds soon. And I must state that I am very proud of all our alumni bodies who have put in great effort in sourcing new donors to set up these much-needed loan funds for TAR UMT students,” Tan Sri Chan said.

The dinner will also see many alumni from all age groups coming back to their alma mater to celebrate TAR UMT’s upgrade to a University. “TAR UMT’s alumni are an important part of TAR UMT’s success and this is also why this dinner is organised so our alumni can come back to their beloved alma mater for this auspicious occasion. We have planned a great lineup of performances by professionals and TAR UMT students. I am very confident that 11 March 2023 will be an unforgettable night for all of us TARCians, our supporters and donors!” Tan Sri Chan added.
