June 21, 2023 | Campus News

UTAR’s student exchange programmes offers a perfect opportunity for students to broaden their educational experience, explore new cultures and make lifelong connections. The programmes are designed to provide them with a unique and immersive experience that will not only enhance their academic credentials but also enrich their personal growth.

UTAR offers both inbound and outbound student exchange programmes so that students can experience a new way of learning. Inbound students from partner universities can immerse themselves in our university’s academic and cultural environment for a trimester or up to one academic year, while outbound students can pursue high-quality Academic Exchange Programmes or Internship Programmes to explore different academic approaches and new subjects, and meet students from diverse backgrounds at our partner universities.

Studying abroad is a life-changing experience that will expand students’ horizons and develop imperative skills such as cross-cultural communication, adaptability, and independence. These skills will not only benefit them personally but also make them more competitive in the job market. International Student Exchange Programme students Syammimi Manaeh and Nurul Adibah Basirah Abdullah from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei shared, “As part of our university’s discovery course, we were given the opportunity to join this exchange programme. We felt that it would be a good learning experience for us.”

Meanwhile, Japanese exchange student, Miyuki Nakayama from Soka University, who expressed her desire to learn Malaysian culture, said, “I chose UTAR for the exchange programme because I wanted to find my goal for the future and experience multiculturalism in Malaysia. I participated in the cultural activities organised by UTAR to gain more insights about the cultures in Malaysia. In the days to come, I wish to go out to explore Malaysia and expose myself to various cultures.”

Hsieh Yu-chi from the National Chi Nan University said, “For a long time, I have always wanted to stay in a foreign country and learn more about it. Thus, I chose Malaysia as my destination. The programme offered by UTAR was not only interesting, but it was also adventurous because I had the chance to travel across the country, visit its nature reserves and learn about its cultures.”

Moreover, UTAR’s “Buddy Programme” provides an opportunity for the exchange students to experience student life at UTAR and learn about the Malaysian culture and community, besides exchanging ideas, sharing experiences and acquiring learning skills. Don’t miss this opportunity to broaden your education and explore the world. Join our student exchange programmes and take the first step towards a truly international education.
