DESIGN EXCELLENCE TAKES CENTRE STAGE AT SEQUENCE 2024 GRADUATION SHOWCASE

PETALING JAYA, 12 JANUARY 2024 – First City University College has once again asserted its dominance in Design education, unveiling the much-anticipated SEQUENCE 2024 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre. This exceptional event, hosted by the Faculty of Design, Built & Environment, showcased the outstanding projects of graduating students from various disciplines, including BA (Honours) in Graphic Design, BA (Hons) Furniture & Product Design, BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design, and BA (Hons) Fashion Marketing.

SEQUENCE 2024 distinguishes itself from traditional graduation showcases by providing an engaging platform for projects of professional calibre, skillfully crafted by aspiring designers and fashion enthusiasts.

Esteemed guests, among them Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Saw Sor Heoh from First City University College, IDr Christine Rowland, Director of Genre Associates and Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Interior Design (MIID), along with numerous industry partners, graced the event with their presence during the launch.

Prof. Dr. Saw, in her welcome speech, commended the Faculty of Design and Built Environment for orchestrating the successful 22nd Edition of the showcase. Emphasizing the faculty's dedication to excellence, she pointed to the numerous accolades and achievements earned by both students and faculty members. Highlighting the recent success at the MIID Student Saturday event in November 2023, where students clinched multiple awards, including gold, silver, bronze, and honourable mentions, she underscored this as evidence of the students' calibre and the faculty's unwavering commitment to excellence.

Renowned in the design industry, IDr Christine Rowland, representing the Malaysian Institute of Interior Design (MIID), inaugurated the showcase by extending congratulations to the students for their remarkable achievements in creating inspiring projects. She shared her aspirations for MIID to maintain active engagement, fostering the growth of First City University College students into professional designers. Additionally, she encouraged students to embrace lifelong learning as a crucial element for staying relevant in the dynamic industry.

The launch of Sequence 2024 kicked off with mesmerizing opening gimmick, transitioning seamlessly to the SQ 2024 Showreel—an insightful introduction to the graduates' remarkable work. The event highlights included an exhilarating fashion show, where models showcased the outstanding pieces created by the graduating Fashion Marketing students.

SEQUENCE 2024 ran from 10 to 14 January 2024 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, with the official launch  held on 12 January 2024.
