With more than 30 years of experience in the higher education industries Prof. Dato Sr Dr Omar Osman has dedicated his life towards the development of nation building in creating quality education in higher education learning. His dedication and passion in the area of sustainability certainly being one of the key factors which makes him notable in the educational industries. Before being the Vice Chancellor in DRB-HICOM University he was the Vice- Chancellor at Universiti Sains Malaysia which during his years served in USM achieves many notable awards. Prof Dato Omar Osman now have a new mission as being the Vice Chancellor of DRB-HICOM University in making the university a place where students prepare and nurture themselves towards Industry Revolution 4.0.
Contributions to DRB-HICOM University
Starts from the appointment of Prof Dato Sr. Dr Omar Osman as the Vice Chancellor of DRB-HICOM University he has done much contribution towards achieving greatness for the university. He introduced the concept of University Sustainability which focuses on six area of key performance towards increasing the achievement of the university. He focuses on six thrust which is Performance, University State of the Art, Nurturing Student in a Professional and Ethical Fashion, Graduates and Alumni, Changing Culture Paradigm, Academic Paradigm Shifts and Knowledge Transfer Alliance (PUNCAK 2019). Under this concept the university has reach further not only focuses in the country but also reaching outside of Malaysia in collaborating with other international university. In preparing for the Industrial Revolution 4.0 he started the plan for the university to collaborate with Beijing Geely University in China to enhance the existing university programmes towards Industrial Revolution 4.0.He also introduce new scholarship and schemes to help those who in need to pursue their higher education in DRB-HICOM University and helping students in starting their career once graduate at the university. Not only focuses to help Malaysian, he also introduced a project with the southern Thailand called Malaysia- Southern Thailand Educational which help the community in Southern Thailand to enhance their English and entrepreneur skills with various programs conducted by the university.
Contribution to Education
With more than 24 years of experience in education industry Prof Dato Omar Osman has numerous contribution in the education industry. With more than 300 academic and research in the field of Sustainability, Construction Project Management, Policy and Governance Higher Education and Knowledge Transfer Management.
The DRB – HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia is a member of DRB – HICOM Group conglomerate, strategically located within DRB-HICOM’s regional automotive hub in Pekan that houses the nation's largest integrated automotive assembly complex. It is probably one of its kind in the world. DRB – HICOM University offers home-grown bachelor’s degrees, master and doctoral programmes relating to the automotive ecosystem that includes mechanical, business and management studies. The university runs two faculties namely the Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Faculty of Business & Management.
