SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia), STPM (Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia) and UEC (Unified Examination Certificate) students who have received their examination results are invited to apply to the Elena Cooke Education Fund for financial assistance.

The Fund, set up in honour of the late Miss Elena Cooke, aims to help underprivileged young people, whether they live with their families or were raised in children’s homes and orphanages, to pursue quality education after SPM in local colleges or universities.

Applications for the 2019 Elena Cooke Education Fund scholarships is open, as from March 4, 2019.

Deadline

All applications must be received by 5pm, April 3, 2019.

Minimum Criteria

• Malaysians below 23 years old as at December 31, 2018 who have obtained at least 3As in the SPM and / or who meet other criteria as stated in the application form and the relevant educational institution’s course entry requirements.
• Household income must not be more than RM42,000.00 per annum.
• Applicants who have already commenced their courses will NOT be eligible.

Types of Scholarships

Applicants may apply for a scholarship to finance their study at any one of the following institutions, but only in respect of any of the selected courses indicated below and on the terms set out below:

1. Sunway College/University (Sunway Campus in Selangor only)
   • Applicants may apply for entry into any of the following courses available at Sunway College / Sunway University (Sunway campus in Selangor only). Tuition fees and general fees (namely, fees other than tuition fees) will be fully covered whilst allowances for accommodation, books and living expenses will be given for the entire course.

     Sunway College:

     • Certificate in Finance, Accounting & Business (CFAB)
     • Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)
     • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
     • Diploma in Accounting
     • Diploma in Business Administration
     • Diploma in Communication
     • Diploma in Finance
     • Diploma in Information Technology?

     Sunway University:

     • BSc (Hons) in Computer Science / Information Technology/ Information  Systems/Software Engineering
     • BSc (Hons) in Business Management/ Business Studies /Financial Analysis/Financial Economics
     • Diploma in Culinary Arts
     • Diploma in Events Management
     • Diploma in Graphic  & Multimedia
     • Diploma in Hotel Management
     • Diploma in Interior Design
2. First City University College (formerly known as KBU International College
   • In respect of First City University College, applicants must still apply separately on their own to First City University College for entry into any of the courses below.
     • Diploma in Business Administration
     • Diploma in Electronic Engineering
     • Diploma in Graphic Design
     • Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism   Management
     • Diploma in Information Technolog
     • Diploma in Interior Design
     • Diploma in Mass Communication
     • Diploma in Mechatronics
   • Applicants who are successful in gaining entry may apply to the Elena Cooke Education Fund for financial assistance.
   • General fees will be fully covered whilst allowances for accommodation, books and living expenses will be given for the entire course.
   • Please note that tuition fees are NOT covered by the Elena Cooke Education Fund in this case.
   • Applicants may, however, apply to First City University College for assistance under any of their various scholarship schemes.
3. KDU University College, Utropolis, Glenmarie
   • In respect of KDU University College, applicants must still apply separately on their own to KDU University College for entry into any of the courses below.
     • Diploma in Accountancy
     • Diploma in Business Administration
     • Diploma in Communication and Media
     • Diploma in Computer Studies
     • Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering
     • Diploma in Entertainment Arts
     • Diploma in Entrepreneurial Design
     • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
   • Applicants who are successful in gaining entry may apply to the Elena Cooke Education Fund for financial assistance.
   • General fees will be fully covered whilst allowances for accommodation, books and living expenses will be given for the entire course.
   • Please note that tuition fees are NOT covered by the Elena Cooke Education Fund in this case.
   • Applicants may, however, apply to KDU University College for assistance under any of their various scholarship schemes.
4. Local Colleges/Universities
   • Applicants must apply separately on their own for courses at other local colleges and universities.  However, ECEF scholarships are NOT open for A-levels or Foundation level courses.
   • It is likely that IF any scholarship is granted by the Elena Cooke Education Fund, it will only be a partial scholarship.
   • The Elena Cooke Education Fund reserves the sole and absolute discretion as to the amount of the scholarship.
