Fujitsu Limited established the Fujitsu Scholarship Program in 1985 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its founding. The aim was to provide the opportunity for people from the Asia-Pacific region to contribute to the region through studying different values, cultures, and global business. This has been a Fujitsu's key initiative for deepening the relationships between the countries and citizens of the Asia-Pacific region. This scholarship has since enabled about 500 professionals from 18 countries to study cross-cultural management at JAIMS, the Japan-America Institute of Management Science, in Hawaii, U.S.A.

The Fujitsu Scholarship now provides full financial assistance for postgraduate education and cross-cultural management training in the Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge program by Fujitsu-JAIMS Foundation. The program has three and a half months curriculum. The participants will sharpen their global management knowledge and skills, and build the confidence necessary for success in global business situations.

 

Qualifications

To apply for the Fujitsu Scholarship, you must meet the following qualifications:

Education

A bachelor's degree or a degree equivalent to a four-year standard baccalaureate degree in any discipline from a regionally or nationally accredited institution.

Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant full-time work experience (five years preferred) at the time of application.

Language

A minimum TOEFL score of 577/233/90 (paper/computer/Internet), TOEIC score of 750, or IELTS (Academic) overall band test result of 6.5 or higher from a test taken within the last five years at the time of application

The following applicants are exempt from submitting an English proficiency test score:

• Applicants whose native language is English and who are from one of the following countries: the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, or Singapore.

• Applicants who have received a bachelor's or advanced degree within the last five years from the time of application from an accredited or recognized college or university in one of the following six countries: the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, or Singapore. To be qualified for this exemption, you must submit the transcript or graduate certificate for this degree.

  • Note: If your institution is located in a country other than these six, you can only qualify for an exemption if the medium of instruction and all coursework were done solely in English. This must be clearly stated on the transcript or graduate certificate. If your transcript or graduate certificate does not list this information, submit an official letter from the university certifying so. The letter must be on the university's letterhead, signed and dated by the university official, and sealed in the university's envelope and/or have a stamp certifying that it's prepared by the university. The envelope must not be opened by anyone including the applicant for it to be considered official.

Country

Applicants must be a resident of the state of Hawaii, U.S.A., or a citizen of one of the following : Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, or Vietnam.

Scholarship Benefits and Conditions

a) Benefits

The Fujitsu Scholarship benefits include tuition and fees for the Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge program.

  Fujitsu Ltd. will provide a round-trip air ticket to Japan where the program starts and ends, as well as ticket to participate Hawaii, Thailand, and Singapore Modules of the program. The selection of the air carrier and travel agent, including itinerary, is at the discretion of Fujitsu Ltd.

• Housing Arrangements:
  

  JAIMS will assist in locating appropriate housing in Honolulu for participants. Fujitsu Ltd. will provide and pay for participant accommodations in Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.

• Visa Arrangements:
  

  When applicable, participant will be assisted in obtaining the M-1 Student visa to enter the U.S. and Japan entry visa for a short stay. The expense of obtaining the visas is the financial responsibility of the participant.

b) Conditions

The Fujitsu Scholarship is offered with the expectation that the following conditions will be met by the recipients.

Scholarship Report

Upon completion of Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge program, all participants must submit two formal reports that describes their learning experiences during the program.

Fujitsu Scholarship Termination

All selected scholars are required to participate in good faith, work diligently, and complete the Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge during the program period. Selected Fujitsu Scholars must understand and agree that any serious misconduct in this regard shall warrant immediate termination of the Fujitsu Scholarship without notice and at Fujitsu's sole discretion. The following are some examples of misconduct that could result in such termination:

1. Absence from or failure to complete the Global Leaders for Innovation and Knowledge program without Fujitsu's or JAIMS' permission.

2. Noncompliance with the regulations, policies, and other instructions of Fujitsu and/or JAIMS.

3. Immoral, disorderly, indecent, or violent conduct.
4. Falsification of, or misstatement in any student or program application or other records and/or at any interview.
5. Failure to maintain good academic standing; unsatisfactory work performance.

If Fujitsu terminates the Fujitsu Scholarship for the participant pursuant to the above, the participant shall return to his/her home country immediately. The participant shall inform Fujitsu and/or JAIMS in advance of the date of his/her return and the address and phone number in his/her home country after return. The participant agrees that, effective as of the termination date, Fujitsu shall have no obligation to pay or provide anything under the Fujitsu Scholarship to the participant. Nonetheless, Fujitsu may at its sole discretion provide the participant with the appropriate air ticket for his/her return.

The participant agrees that if his/her conduct which has resulted in termination of the Fujitsu Scholarship pursuant to the above, in Fujitsu's sole judgment, was made fraudulently, with malice or conscious disregard or otherwise in bad faith, the participant shall, upon Fujitsu's request, immediately refund all the benefits and awards paid by Fujitsu and/or JAIMS hereunder to, or on behalf of him/her, to the date of the termination.

  2. Fill out the application forms on your computer. Application forms must be typed.

  3. Save the completed application forms on your computer. When saving, please change the PDF file names as follows. 

     - Replace "CountryName" part of the PDF file name with your country of citizenship in all lowercase characters.
