Purpose of award
The major donors' intent was to help setup a scholarship that recognises the past education links between Malaysia and New Zealand under the Colombo Plan which saw a number of Malaysians being given the opportunity to study at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. They trust that this scholarship will carry on those traditions and support successful applicants from Malaysia in their study at the University of Canterbury.
The scholarship shall be awarded annually at the beginning of the University year, to an international student from Malaysia who is enrolling full time at the University of Canterbury in their first year of study of any discipline. Malaysian students who have permanent residence are not eligible to apply.
