The programme was developed under the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as a field of out-of hospital acute medical care to the definitive medical care facility provider, such as an Emergency and Trauma Unit at the hospital.
Paramedics are specialized ambulance service healthcare professionals who are called in during an accident or medical emergency and non-emergency situations. They are in reality a clinic that provides mobile emergency services using sophisticated techniques, equipment and drugs. They assessed patient’s condition and give essential treatment before the patient is transferred to a hospital or attended by medical doctor. Thus they worked closely with doctors and nurses in the emergency departments, and trained to provide briefing of the patients as they handed over the patients to the hospital. In some cases they also worked closely with the police and fire brigade.
The programme offered by the Faculty is specially designed for people with a commitment to seek internationally accredited and recognized professional career development in paramedic. The faculty is targeting to be the hub of learning centre for all levels of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programmes.
