The BFA Degree in Acting and Directing is the most comprehensive practical degree offered in a Malaysian university. There are courses in contemporary acting, directing and scenography supported by performing skills courses in traditional theatre such as Mak Yong, Wayang Kulit and Bangsawan, preparing graduates for a flexible stage career. We embrace a global audience. Our highest aim is to train artistic leaders - in every theatrical discipline - who create bold new works that astonish the mind, challenge the heart, and delight the senses.
We foster curiosity, invention, bravery, and humour, promoting practical innovation and personal revelation as lifelong habits of the performing artist. This degree reflects the diversity and excitement of the subject in the new Millenium and gives students the opportunity to look at the theory and practice of performance in a range of media.
Minimum entry requirements to all programmes are Malaysian Higher School Certificate of Education and Malaysian Certificate of Education with a credit pass in Bahasa Malaysia. Applicants with previous professional / industrial experience may be accepted in lieu of some, or all, of the formal academic requirements.
As for the international students, academic qualifications which are considered to be equivalent will be placed into consideration. Applicants will be advised on the matter.
