UTAR's Bachelor of Art (Hons) Chinese Studies programme produces graduates with an in-depth understanding of Chinese history, literature, language and culture. Besides theoretical knowledge, students would also acquire a strong foundation in practical skills in speech, writing, research, analysis and critique. The programme includes courses related to Malaysian studies and mass communication, keeping students abreast of the needs and development of the country.

Foundation from UTAR Matriculation / Foundation from other Institutions of Higher Learning Diploma (Level 4, MQF) or its equivalent from other institutions of higher learning 1. Credit in Chinese at SPM level / equivalent* 2. Pass in English at SPM level / equivalent 3. Minimum CGPA of 2.0

*Note: The credit in Chinese at SPM level can be waived should the grade obtained at STPM level or its equivalent is higher OR from one of the following Recognised Test on Chinese Proficiency: "O" Level Chinese Language - Credit UEC Chinese Language - Credit STPM Chinese Language - Pass China’s New Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (New HSK) / New Chinese Proficiency Test (since 2010) - Level 5 (minimum 195 marks or above out of 300 marks) Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) (since 2013) - Level 4
