Microorganisms are the most ancient life forms on the planet, and they have a direct impact on our lives every day. They are critical to the planet's well-being. All microbes, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, are studied by microbiologists. Microbiology has grown in importance in recent years due to the role of microbes in current topics such as biofuels and bioenergy, infectious disease and epidemics, bioterrorism, biotechnology, food safety, and environmental biology.
UTAR Bachelor of Science (Honours) Microbiology intended to provide students with fundamental knowledge of microorganisms as well as aspects of physiology, immunology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and medicine.
Students are introduced to the fundamental concepts and techniques of microbiology, including how to control microbial growth and use it to produce useful products in industries, solve environmental problems, and understand its importance in medicine, waste management, and quality control.
