Course Description

Pharmacists play a major role in healthcare industry by providing patients with access to the right medicines at the right time. We at AMU provide a four year Bachelor programme in Pharmacy which is designed with comprehensive skills in the areas such as hospital, community, clinical and industrial pharmacy. In addition, students are trained for the latest advances in pharmacy profession, which includes pharmacy management, pharmaceutical research, drug discovery and entrepreneurship in pharmacy. Development of ethics in pharmacy, soft skills and co-curricular activities are also emphasized to make them unique pharmacists for the future healthcare world. The successful pharmacy students are awarded with the B Pharmacy (Hons) degree at the end of the four year programme.

Qualification   Academic Requirement (As per Pharmacy Board Malaysia)
 
Foundation in Science(Not less than 1 year in the same accredited institution)  
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.0 and above with minimum grade B In Chemistry
  • Minimum Grade B in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) AND another subject at SPM Level/ “0” Level.
  • Minimum Grade C in Bahasa Malaysia and English at SPM Level or other equivalent
  • Minimum band score of 3 in MUET before graduation.
 
Matriculation(Not less than 1 year in the same accredited institution)  
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.0 and above with minimum grade B In Chemistry
  • Minimum Grade B in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (or Additional Mathematics) AND another subject at SPM Level/ “0” Level.

  • Minimum Grade BBB, AAC, ABC in Biology, Chemistry, Physic Mathematics with minimum grade B in Chemistry

  •  Minimum CGPA of 3.75 and above with minimum grade B In Chemistry

  • Minimum Grade C in Bahasa Malaysia and English at SPM Level or other equivalent

Diploma in Pharmacy  
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.5 and above
  • Minimum Grade B in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics (or   Additional Mathematics) AND another subject at SPM Level/ “0” Level.

Career Prospects Job Responsibilities
Hospital Pharmacist Interact closely with the prescriber; promote the rational prescribing and utilization of drugs
Community Pharmacist Processing of prescriptions, provide patient care and to monitor drug utilization
Clinical Pharmacist Works directly with medical professionals and patients, they have a great deal of control over prescribing medications and monitoring patients
Regulatory Pharmacist Works with a company for appropriate licensing, marketing and for the approval and registration of pharmaceuticals
Industrial Pharmacist Manufacturing and quality assurance of bulk drugs and various dosage forms
Research & Development Use scientific knowledge to develop new medications, create new dosage forms
