Course Description

This programme is specifically designed to provide students with:

  • The necessary skills, key competencies and required knowledge for today’s fast moving business world.
  • Maximum exemptions from the professional bodies.
  • Competency not only in preparing and analysing financial reports but also to successfully guide and lead their organisations.

 

ACCA Accelerate Programme also available

Upon completion of B.A (Hons) in Accounting & Finance, students are eligible for exemptions in the below Professional Accounting Bodies. Students who articulate from the APU Diploma Programme will be granted exemptions based on the prevalent policy of the relevant professional bodies.

Curriculum

DEGREE LEVEL 1

Students will learn fundamental skills required by every accounting and finance professional, and the basic understanding of the legal, business and social environment in which accounting operates. We will also expose them towards business & communication skills, mathematical skill and entrepreneurial skills.

DEGREE LEVEL 2

A broader range of skills will be learnt, in which students will gain a better understanding of traditional areas of Accounting and Finance, such as Cost and Management Accounting, Corporate Reporting etc. They will gain further understanding of application of accounts in different types of organisations as well as the statutory requirements of corporate entities. They will also familiarise themselves with business processes through the SAP, the world-leading enterprise software. Students will have the hands-on training with the system. We will further nurture their independent learning to prepare them for the workplace and for further researches.

INTERNSHIP (16 weeks)

Students will undertake an Internship/Industrial Training for a minimum period of 16 weeks to prepare them for a smooth transition from the classroom to the working environment.

DEGREE LEVEL 3

Students will make use of their previous studies and industrial experience to learn about the strategic and international perspectives of accounting, with aims to groom them as a leader in accounting and finance. They will also expand their knowledge in the modern accounting and finance world. A final year project requires them to explore a topic individually – they will demonstrate their academic and practical aspects of their ability in the chosen area of study.

Entry Requirements

DIRECT ENTRY TO LEVEL 1 OF THE DEGREE:

STPM         

  2 Passes in STPM with a minimum Grade C+ (GP 2.33) and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM Level or its equivalent. (MUET Band 2 is required for all Malaysian Students)

 

A-LEVEL

• 2 Passes in A-Level in any 2 subjects, and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or its equivalent.

 

UEC

• 5 Grade B’s in UEC including Mathematics. (MUET Band 2 is required for all Malaysian Students)

 

FOUNDATION/ MATRICULATION

• Passed Foundation programme (minimum CGPA of 2.5) with a Credit in Mathematics at SPM/O-Level/IGCSE or equivalent.

 

Direct Entry to level 2 of the Degree:

• Passed Diploma in Accounting with minimum CGPA of 2.5 and a Credit in Mathematics at SPM / O-Level / IGCSE level.

• MUET : Band 3
