Bachelor in Bioinformatics programme is structured to produce graduates with strong understanding of the science of Bioinformatics and its applications in research and development of new drugs. The programme builds a solid foundation in chemistry, biology, computer science, mathematics and statistics and enables students to have the skills necessary to apply computing tools to address contemporary problems in biology and medicine. The students will possess the technical knowledge and ability necessary to address a scientific problem by exploiting biological software and datasets and creating simple Bioinformatics tools.
i) STPM Candidate :
(ii) Pass Ministry of Education Matriculation or MSU Foundation, or other Foundation Programme or its equivalent from any higher learning institutions :-
(iii) Diploma from PTPL/MSU or Certificate/Diploma from Polytechnic or Public Higher Learning Institution (IPTA) recognised by KPT and MQA
(iv) Pass at least 3 subjects in A-Level (GCE)
(v) Pass The South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with minimum score of 65% - 70%
(vi) Pass Canadian Pre University Programme (CPU) with minimum score of 80%
(vii) Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least grade B in 5 subjects
(viii) Other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government

Graduates of this course can apply for positions such as bioinformatician, computer programmer and research assistant in both the private and public sector. A part from that, our graduates can venture into the education or research field as a Research Personnel. Pharmaceutical companies are constantly on the lookout for experts in Bioinformatics for research and designing of new drugs.
