Course Description

The Diploma in Leisure Outdoor and Adventure Management (DLM) programme aspire to meet the increasing demand for graduates with vocational skills in planning and organising leisure and outdoor recreation events. Leisure Outdoor and Adventure Management is a profession which is concerned with the leisure and outdoorrecreation industries that are an important part of cultural and business activity in Malaysia and overseas. Thus, the programme prepares for a career in leisure and outdoor recreation and specialises in leisure and outdoorrecreation events and the management of leisure recreational facilities. Given such academic exposure, graduates of the DLM, therefore, would be in an advantage position to find career opportunities not only in the government sector, but more importantly, in the private and corporate sector. As for the latter career opportunities, graduates are most encouraged to further their study to degree and masters level.

Entry Requirements

(i) Pass SPM with 3 credits in any subjects;


(ii) Certificate from Polytechnic or higher learning institution;


(iii) Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least grade B in 3 subjects;


(iv) Other equivalent qualification recognised by Malaysian Government

Career Prospects

There are many professional opportunities directly related to leisure and recreational services. Possibilities include, but are not limited to government ministries and departments, community recreation, YMCA, after school programmes, corporate recreation, resort/commercial recreation, camps and parks administration, therapeutic recreation, recreation for special populations, outdoor adventure programmes and motivational camps. Positions that graduates can fill in the above organisations are Recreational Safety Officer, Leisure & Recreation Programme, Park Ranger, Operations Officer, Recreation Therapist, Community Program Officer, Activity Coordinator and Municipal Recreation Administrator.
