The Diploma in Accounting (DIA) programme offered in Open University Malaysia (OUM) aims to produce competent graduates. The learners will be exposed to areas such as management accounting, financial accounting, taxation, auditing, economics and finance which will provide them an opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge. Careers related to accounting are banking, finance, insurance, risk management, broking, investment, actuarial work and procurement. Through this programme, learners are expected to get onto the first rung of ladder to move up within their organisations. Graduates are expected to be able to serve in business and non-business organisations. In order to qualify for the diploma, a minimum of 90 credit hours of approved courses are required.
Normal Entry
A pass in SPM or its equivalent with a minimum of 3 credits including Mathematics, and a pass in English; OR
A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or its equivalent, with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.0) in any subject, and credits in Mathematics and a pass in English at SPM level; OR
A pass in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum grade of Maqbul (pass) and credits in Mathematics and a pass in English at SPM level; OR
A pass in SKM Level 3 in a related field and a pass in SPM with a minimum of 1 credit in any subject with credits in Mathematics and a pass in English; OR
A certificate or its equivalent in a related field OR
APEL entry
• Malaysian; and
• Candidate must be 20 years old and above in the year of application being made; and
• Have previous working experience/learning relevant to the field applied; and
• Pass APEL Assessment for a Diploma (conducted by OUM).
English competency requirement for international students: Score of TOEFL 550 or IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
