Bachelor of Islamic Studies (BIS) is an open and distance learning program the offered to those who want to pursue their studies in higher education in Islamic studies. It comprises subjects encompassing Islamic Law and Management. It is aimed to equip candidates with Islamic knowledge as well as exposure to management from the Islamic perspective.
This integrated curriculum is designed to help those who are working as administrators and managers in both government and private sectors, especially those who are attached to various religious institutions, including religious departments at state and federal levels.
Normal Entry
i. Pass STPM or its equivalent, with minimum Grade C (GP 2.00) in one of the Islamic Studies or Arabic Language subject and one other subject; or
ii. Pass STAM (Maqbul level); or
iii. Pass Matriculation/Foundation/Asasi from any Higher Education Institutions that are authorized to offer Foundation program in related field with CGPA of 2.00; or
iv. Diploma in Islamic Studies or related field (MQF Level 4) with minimum CGPA of 2.00; or
v. Other recognised equivalent qualifications.
APEL entry
• Malaysian; and
• Candidate must be 21 years old and above in the year of application being made; and
• Have previous working experience/learning relevant to the field applied; and
• Pass APEL Assessment for Bachelor Degree (conducted by OUM).
English language competency requirements for international students: Minimum IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
Graduates are eligible for positions in general and religious administrations in public or private religious institutions.
