| Course Description | The Foundation in Science (FIS) programme is a three- semester programme tailored to equip students with the quality pre-University education, knowledge and skills they need to excel in future undergraduate programmes. In addition to core courses like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology, they will also develop life skills through subjects like Critical Thinking, Interpersonal Communication and Frontier Studies which will make them more adaptable, confident and team-oriented. The students’ progress is monitored through regular assessments and our academic staff are always at hand to guide them through the transition to degree-level programmes. QIU’s FIS programme provides quality Pre-University education with a broad and balanced curriculum that prepares students to meet the requirements and qualifications of undergraduate programmes. |
| Curriculum | The following courses make up the Foundation in Science (A 9504) programme curriculum:
Assessment Students’ ability is gauged through continuous assessments and a final semester examination. The continuous assesment component comprises acombination of: tests/quizzes, mid-term examination, laboratory related reports, essays, presentations and projects/assignments which accounts foran allocation of about 30-50 marks depending on the course. The balance of the marks is allocated for the final examination. |
| Entry Requirements | SPM/ O-Level
Pass with minimum five (5) credits in Mathematics, two (2) science subjects and two (2) other subjects. UEC Pass with minimum grade B in three (3) subjects including Mathematics and two (2) other science subjects. |
