Pupils will typically study seven to ten IGCSE courses depending upon ability, with the aim of sitting examinations in each subject area. Each subject area may have a number of separate examination papers, resulting in a strenuous examination programme in May and June every year.
Some subject areas have coursework as part of the course, which means that various assignments are submitted at stages throughout the course. For those students who will struggle to complete this number of IGCSEs, they may have their programme altered to suit their needs.
